Our 2013 Tech Wish List
Sweaters, socks, movies. Sure, we all like them. But what do technophiles really want for Christmas? Here are a few gadgets that made it into Hansonites’ wish lists this year.
iOS Stats for Hanson Apps, Q3 2013
It’s time for another update of user insights from Hanson-developed iOS apps. If you’ve missed our previous reports, look up our first quarter stats and our second quarter stats. As you browse the latest numbers, keep in mind that this last quarter saw the launch of a new iPhone and iOS 7.
The Internet Explorer Saga
I’m sometimes asked, “Dave, why do web developers hate Internet Explorer?” It’s true that IE is sometimes the bane of our existence, and always the butt of our jokes. But the history of Microsoft’s browser is a Darth Vader-esque tale of hope, betrayal, and redemption.
Giving Thanks at Hanson
In a creative, collaborative environment like Hanson (watch our culture video to experience it for yourself), you have to like the people you work with. That means lots of teasing, lots of laughing, and of course, lots of eating. So it’s not surprising that in a quick office poll about what we’re thankful for, people and snacks pop up often. Here are a few things Hansonites are grateful for this year.
Advanced Segmentation: You Have More Data Than You Think You Do
Have you recently added a great new tool to your website? Chances are good that this will bring in more visitors and increase their interaction with your site. But you don’t want to assume that it will happen just because your new feature is out there. Along with marketing the new tool, you also need to measure its success. And thanks to Google’s advanced segmentation, you can do this easily.
Experience Mapping for 2014
Today’s multi-screen, multi-touchpoint world has fundamentally altered our lifestyles. But has it altered the methods you use to understand your customers’ experiences? It should.
How “Digital” is Each Generation?
Our primary focus at Hanson is user-centered design, and we’re always looking to deeply understand the very specific users and their needs before creating any brand experience. But it’s also useful periodically to take a look at broad audiences in general, and consider how their social characteristics and attitudes might shape their relationship to technology.
Android Stats for Hanson Apps, Q3 2013
Regular readers know we publish stats every quarter for apps we’ve developed here at Hanson. Back in July, we issued our first report on Android versions and devices, and now it’s time for another one.
7 Reasons to Define Your Solution First
When you’re creating a new website or app, it might be tempting to dream big and work out the details later. But it’s always wiser to start by defining your solution first. At Hanson, we call this Requirements Definition and Solution Design.
Adobe Generator: Best Thing Since Sliced GIFs
We don’t usually discuss specific products on the blog, but a new feature of Adobe Photoshop CC called Generator has our team talking. Starting with version 14.1, Photoshop allows developers to directly export layers as graphic assets without having to slice, hide, nudge, copy or paste.
Report from GACP Summit 2013
As a Google Analytics Certified Partner (GACP), Hanson has the privilege of sending a team member to the GACP Summit every fall at Google headquarters. This year and last it’s been my pleasure to represent the agency there. Google’s theme this year is “Access. Empower. Act.” and they are striving to release new features and processes to help customers meet these goals in their workflows.
