On Motivation, Recognition and…We won! We won!
Recognition is a great motivator. It’s not that striving for excellence isn’t itself a worthy goal. It’s that striving for excellence is a day-in/day-out, nose-to-the-grindstone, blood, sweat and tears endeavor. It’s tiring. It’s frustrating. Because we’re human, sometimes we screw up. But also sometimes we knock it out of the park. And when we do, it’s nice to get a confirming pat on the back that says, “You did good. Keep it up!”
